Citation :: US. TV and film director Ali Selim has joined the team of Gracepoint to work on at least one episode. Ali directed multiple episodes of In Treatment, which was executive produced by Gracepoint show runners Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein. He also wrote and directed the award winning feature film Sweet Land.

Gracepoint, the US adaptation of the internationally acclaimed US TV series Broadchurch, continues to shoot on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. David Tennant stars as Detective Emmett Carver, an American counterpart of his original role as DI Alec Hardy. Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) plays Ellie Miller. Original series creator Chris Chibnall is executive producing the event series which will air on Fox as part of the 2014 - 15 season.

Jack Irvine is Tom Miller

Tom Miller is the son of one the lead detectives in the murder of a young boy in the small town of Gracepoint. He is also the best friend of the murder victim and a troubled kid with a secret to hide.

Jack is a 13-year-old Vancouver actor who “fell into acting” according to his mother. He has done several television commercials, including ads for Hot Wheels and Kia cars and has had some non-speaking roles in two TV series, The Killing and Psych. He recently appeared in a music video for rapper Madchild, playing a frightened boy in a house of horrors.

“He has big blue eyes and blond hair and is very handsome for a young man but very unique looking as well. He’s a natural actor who really understands the process and doesn’t take it too seriously.” according to his agent.

David Tennant was of course the obvious choice for the casting directors of the US remake of Broadchurch, which is entitled Gracepoint, having already played the same role in the UK.

British fans were hooked on the six part drama, Broadchurch, which saw Tennant playing the lead role of DI Alec Hardy, the inspector heading the investigation into the shocking murder of an 11 year old boy in the sleepy seaside town…

So, when the drama’s writers started work on the American version, as mentioned above, they quickly called upon Tennant when they started the casting process for Gracepoint, and according to Tennant, it was a part that was “too unique to turn down!”

Discussing his new role – in which he plays Detective Emmett Carver – during a recent interview with the Belfast Telegraph, Tennant explained that he was intrigued to be asked to play a different version of a part he had already portrayed, explaining that the fact that it felt “extraordinary” was part of the appeal.

He said: “It doesn’t really feel surreal [but] it perhaps seems like an odder notion than it ultimately is. Acting is often about repeating the same part of a story again and again… so there were enough variables to make it fresh and challenging.”

One of the main topics of conversation since Gracepoint began development was Tennant’s attempts at an American accent, which many critics have slammed.

However, Tennant himself revealed to the paper that he found the challenge “useful” as it gave him a “new point of concentration to work from” adding, “Having a different voices makes you a different person”.

But on the subject of the fate of both of his characters, Tennant was more than a little coy and cryptic, explaining that if he spilled the beans on the second series, he would be “shot in the head.” But he also conceded that aside from that, he’s unsure what will happen in Gracepoint anyway!

When Broadchurch and Gracepoint writer Chris Chibnall announced the remake, he did warn everyone to expect some changes and surprises.

But could one of those surprises be the death of Tennant’s character?

From his cryptic quote, it certainly seems that it is an option he has considered, as the former Doctor Who explained:

“I’m just happy to go where the good writing is, which has been Broadchurch and Gracepoint – and now Broadchurch again. If I make it to the end of Gracepoint season one, who knows?”

But if Tennant’s character isn’t killed, there is still always the possibility that he will end up being the killer as executive producer Dan Futterman has teased:

“Don’t rule anybody out…”

Ce devait être l'un des événements de la rentrée de FOX, mais à l'image de l'automne du network, ce fut un immense flop. Début octobre, l'univers de la série anglaise "Broadchurch", qui a fait les beaux jours de BBC et de France 2 ces derniers mois, débarquait outre-Atlantique avec un remake, également porté par David Tennant.

Toutefois, "Gracepoint" n'a pas atteint le succès de sa grande soeur, bien au contraire. Avec 4.7 millions de curieux lors du pilote, la série dramatique n'a jamais réellement intéressé les américains. Dans l'ensemble, les 8 premiers épisodes ont ainsi rassemblé 3.6 millions de fidèles pour 0.8% des 18-49 ans, une performance désastreuse pour FOX.

Ce jeudi, le network a dévoilé la bande-annonce de l'ultime épisode de la saison 1, et a officialisé le sort de "Gracepoint" : le season finale est tout simplement annoncé comme le series finale de la série. "Gracepoint" est donc bel et bien annulée à l'issue de sa première enquête, qui se concluera la semaine prochaine. Si les dirigeants de FOX ont présenté dès l'origine la série comme une histoire bouclée, la porte n'était évidemment pas fermée en cas de réussite audimatique. Depuis, le public a tranché...
