Alors que les fans de Vampire Diaries attendent avec impatience la diffusion de la saison 6 aux Etats-Unis, les acteurs de la série dévoilent déjà quelques morceaux de l’intrigue des épisodes à venir. C’est le cas de Paul Wesley (Stefan), qui explique que son personnage sera différent dans la saison 6 de Vampire Diaries : "Il s’est désormais isolé et a quitté la ville".

Il poursuit : "Julie Plec, la créatrice de la série, a écrit quelque chose de très intéressant pour Stefan cette saison. Let the record show: There is no TV fandom more tortured right now than the fans who love The Vampire Diaries' Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev), a k a "Delena."

No seriously, every other fandom can just go home. Or rather, go out into the world and live your lives because you aren't at home, curled up in a ball grieving.YOLO, non-Delena fans. YOLO.

Damon (Ian) and Elena's (Nina) final scene of the May finale, in which Damon passed over to another dimension, and he can see her but she can't see him, was so gut-wrenching, and reminiscent of Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in Ghost, we still get choked up at the very thought of it.

"Nina Dobrev and her cry-sobs," executive producer Julie Plec muses. "They're amazing."

True dat, sister.

Viewers have to wait until the sixth season premiere on Oct. 2 to find out what happens next, but there is a debate brewing between the TVD fans who want Damon to get back to Elena, and the fans who want him to try out a relationship that was prevalent in the TVD books: Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham). A k a "Bamon." Which sounds delicious, if only because it sounds like bacon. And now we want.

Damon and Bonnie never had a chance to be together until now, because they hated each other so fiercely (for some very solid reasons), but they ended season five holding hands as they were catapulted into some other (presumably dark and horrible) dimension, that may or may not "hurt." (Shudder.) So...now there's a chance. And when I spoke to Julie Plec at Comic-Con (watch the video above!), she hinted there probably will be some sort of more-than-friends development—however miniscule it might turn out to be.

"To me, in spite of what [Bonnie and Damon] had in the books, that kind of relationship would only be born out of chemistry, and an on-screen connection," Plec told me." Ian and Kat are super close. They love each other. They're very excited to work together. There could be instant chemistry there that we all sit back and watch like we did, frankly, with Klaus and Caroline, with that very first scene. There was never any plan to have romance but he cures her on her freaking birthday and all of a sudden, the world is melting.. So you never know, but what we did want to do is we wanted to service the Bamon relationship from the books and at least give those two characters an opportunity—that we never thought we'd have frankly cause they never liked each other, and for good reason—to bond and get close and to be comrades. So it will start there, and it may never go any further—that's not the plan, but you never know."

Go ahead and read that last sentence one more time.

Clearly, it's not yet set in stone which way Damon's love life will be heading, but it sure sounds like there will be something, if there are sparks on screen.

So…TVD question of the hour…Is there actual chemistry between Damon/Ian and Bonnie/Kat? Apparently, depends who you ask! At Comic-Con, Ian gushed at length about his intense connection with Kat on screen, while Kat herself declared (albeit with a laugh), "Ian and I have no chemistry!" [Watch those video interviews below if you haven't…and judge for yourself!]

As for what we can expect from Damon and Elena in the coming season, Julie spoke of the beauty of their "longing"…and we're tearing up all over again.

"Damon and Elena are obviously not together at the moment. Because he's not with us. But I think what's beautiful is they are together spiritually, because she is missing him so deeply, and he is dying to get back to her so profoundly. So even though they're not physically with each other, that's what each of them wants so badly.And so, so much of the first part of the season is trying to draw them back together and then all the the things that get in their way and it's bad. It's bad but it's beautiful. Happy tears. Sad tears… Longing for each other and longing is just as beautiful as being together in a lot of ways."

The vamps are (almost) back in town.

Actually, while The Vampire Diaries will soon return for Season 6 next Thursday, Oct. 2 (The CW, 8/7c), there’s still a magical wall keeping supernatural beings out of Mystic Falls. And that’s not even the biggest problem in store for Elena and the gang.

TVLine got a sneak peek at the season premiere, followed by a Q&A with executive producer Caroline Dries, and we’re sharing some teasers about Elena’s state, Damon and Bonnie’s whereabouts, Stefan’s new girl, Caroline’s bruised heart and much more. Read on to get the scoop:

* Damon’s death will reveal a dangerous new side of Elena.

* Stefan is far removed from Mystic Falls as he searches for a witch who can talk to the dead. He even adopts a different “life” with a new job — and a new girlfriend?! “We get to learn what his process is as a vampire, starting over and living a different identity,” Dries teases.

* If you sensed some tension/flirtation between Tyler and Liv in this sneak peek, you’re not crazy.

* The biggest struggle for resurrected Original vampire Alaric isn’t bloodlust — it’s his lack of game when it comes to the ladies. “One of the problems he’s going to be having is just how to go on a normal date and be a normal guy again,” Dries says. Elena’s pretty new doctor mentor Jo (played by Prison Break‘s Jodi Lynn O’Keefe) “is going to bring that side out of him.”

* Caroline’s got a new place of residence, a new mission — finding a way to take down that magical border — and a lot of unreturned calls to Stefan. Ouch.

* With the Mystic Grill under renovation, Matt finds a new purpose in life. Sadly, the same cannot be said about wayward Jeremy.

* New series regular Michael Malarkey isn’t in the season opener, but fret not, Enzo fans, he’ll be back in Episode 2. “He is up to something that is on point with what’s going on in the Damon/Stefan story,” Dries teases.

* As for Damon and Bonnie’s whereabouts, all we can say without being turned into a member of the undead is that the mystery will be addressed.

* Doppelganger schmoppelganger. The “D” word has not been uttered once in the season’s first 10 episodes, Dries reveals. Instead, this season will “pepper in” the mythology, and witchy twins “Liv and Luke will play an important part” in that story.

On Monday (September 22) morning, The CW invited a handful of reporters to break up the madness of premiere week with a screening of the sixth season premiere of "The Vampire Diaries," which will air on October 2.

I'm not going to tell you much about the premiere both because it's a [relatively] long way off and because many of the salient plot points are embargoed.

But mostly, I'm not quite ready to give more than a quick gut opinion. I felt like Season 5 was frequently over-extended and repetitive, but the finale also set in motion a number of shifts which, if utilized correctly, could clear a lot of the clutter from Mystic Falls. In turn, the premiere is mostly resetting the pieces. How's Elena handling the events of the finale? Poorly! How's Jeremy handling the events of the finale? Poorly! How're Stefan, Caroline, Matt and The Witch Twins handling the events of the finale? Poorly! And how is Alaric handling being alive again and whatnot? Poorly! That doesn't mean it's a depressing premiere, just that there's a lot of flux and, unlike last year's premiere, nobody is wandering around hubristically talking about how it was the best summer ever.

And what's up with Damon and Bonnie? Come on. You know I can't tell you anything.

But I can offer some hints about the season-to-come, thanks to "Vampire Diaries" showrunner Caroline Dries, who dropped by after the screening to answer some probing queries from the press.

I'm sure there are minor spoilers if you want to go into the new season knowing nothing, but otherwise...

*** No more doppelgängers ever. OK. That's not exactly true, but I asked about the rather muddled web of doppelgängers, which at least theoretically was relieved by last season's climax. For now, Dries was reassuring.

"I just finished Episode 10. We haven't said it once in 10 episodes," Dries said. "In the writers' room sometimes we'll be like, "Ugh. Maybe this is a doppelgänger thing' and like, 'Nope. Don't say that word. Somebody think of a different idea.' We've been pretty diligent about that. And I'm pretty sure if we say it, it's just to make fun of it. I really am proud of actually the whole doppelgänger thing, but I get it. It's like, 'We did that story, so moving on...'"



*** It's sophomore year in college and that will be semi-relevant. One of the things that always concerned me with the high school years of "Vampire Diaries" was how little time people spent in class, but how high school remained in the background even when none of them had any good reason to still be attending. Yes, I'm concerned by silly things. Well, college was more relevant for the first chunk of last season and then was largely forgotten in the home-stretch. Well, at least in the premiere, Elena has even gone so far as to choose a major and she's attending several classes.

And the Sophomore Year thing will also tie into the overall theme, particularly with Caroline, who is working overtime to reverse the curse/hex on Mystic Falls to allow our supernatural denizens to return home.

"It's important to her, like the town, it's more of a symbolic thing for her and less of a plot-drive, if that makes sense," Dries explained. "We were like, 'We could make this a storyline where they get a bunch of witches and they try to undo the Traveler Spell,' then we're like 'Then we're having scenes with witches and then we're doing spells and no one cars.' So we were like, 'Let's not make that the main story and let's just make it more of the metaphor for what they can't have, which is the ability to go home and be together and sleep in their own  beds and stuff like that.' We've always kinda said it's like the metaphor for when you're in your second year of college and it's like, 'OK. Now I'm in college. My home is now where I go home on Thanksgiving or Christmas vacation.' It stops feeling like home after a little while and like, 'This is my life.'"



*** The college thing also relates to Alaric's return. And he's pretty messed up. Alaric is teaching Occult Studies at Whitmore, which I guess makes as much sense as anything for him to do. He's got new appetites, though.

"He is a vampire hunter who was turned into a vampire, went crazy and then died. So now that he's back, it's like, 'Oh, he's gonna have some emotional baggage,'" Dries noted. "But he's also kinda an adult figure on the show. So as Elena's going through her drama and Jeremy's got his drama, it's like he can't just sit there and mope and cry about his problems, so he internalizes a lot of stuff."


*** Who can speak a language Matt Donovan can understand? The Maytag Man can. "Eureka" star Colin Ferguson, most recently seen as pitchman for Maytag, appears in the premiere as Tripp, leader of a local watch group that gives Matt something to do with his time, what with the absence of immediate threats on his life.

"He came about because we wanted to show Matt thriving in Mystic Falls without supernaturals," Dries said of Ferguson's character. "Every episode Matt is having his life in jeopardy or somebody's threatening to kill him or something. So it's like, 'What's Matt's life like when he can just not have to have a death threat every five minutes.' We kinda wanted to give him a father figure-type, coach kinda guy, so that's where Trip came out of. But it's Mystic Falls, 'The Vampire Diaries,' no everyone is who they say they wanna be, but he'll ultimately become kinda an interesting, layered dynamic character that's not necessarily a good guy or a bad guy. He actually represents I think like a normal person if you're not in love with Damon or Stefan, like a normal person's point-of-view on the whole vampire world."


*** You probably care about the love stories. Don't worry. Things continue. Well, Damon's off in the Wherever He Is. And Stefan's got his own issues. But Dries offered reassurance that "Vampire Diaries" will not be without romance.

"I can tease that we definitely keep the love stories alive," she said. "We might not play it out in a tradition way, but they will feel very satisfying. You'll have your moments of frustration where the fans hate us and then we'll have moments where they're freaking out and being thankful, so there's kinda like that push-and-pull that we do, but I think it's done in a way that feels fresh for a show that's in Season 6 and has had the same characters and this love triangle for a long time."

She added, "I don't really call it a triangle, because Stefan has become more of a soul-friend of Elena's and so he's dealing with his own stuff, but those two are still very connected, but it's more 'How do we maintain Elena and Damon's love story while he's not present?' So that was our challenge as writers, but I think we do a cool job of it."

But what about Stefan and Caroline?

"It's a very slow build for them," Dries promised.


*** There's a new bad guy coming. Well duh.

"He is just like a crazy person and he's super-fun to write and the actor's name is Chris Wood," Dries said. "He's very charismatic and charming and psychotic and likable and unlikable in all the right ways, you get to meet him in a few episodes and he's gonna stick around for a while, hopefully."


*** There are flashbacks coming. Well duh.

"Yeah, there are flashbacks coming up. We will see, I won't tell you the date, but we will see an era we haven't seen before in flashbacks and it will help tie together a bunch of storylines, but it's gonna be Episode 4," Dries teased.


*** Caroline Dries can't say anything about a "Vampire Diaries"/"Originals" crossover. That's Julie Plec and Michael Narducci's thing. But rest-assured it's happening. Eventually.

The spirits of Bonnie and Damon. The influence of the twosome -- who were left behind when the Other Side fell -- is felt throughout the entire episode. While they might not necessarily be physically present, their legacy will still affect day-to-day life in Mystic Falls.

Sexy Stefan. He's out of Mystic Falls and has found a sexy new lady. Her name's Ivy, she's from Colorado and she loves dogs, in case you were wondering.

How will Alaric respond to Elena's request for compulsion?
Dries: That's a big part of the next episode. Damon is his friend too, so for her it's a hard decision, but for him it's like, "I don't know if I can do this to my friend." So, that will be his emotional journey in the next episode.

What's going to develop between Alaric and Jo (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe)?
Dries: What we wanted to explore is that he is a vampire hunter who was turned into a vampire and went crazy and died. Now that he's back, he'll have some emotional baggage. But he's also an adult figure in the show. So, as Elena is going through her drama and Jeremy [goes] through his drama, he can't just sit there and mope about his problems. So, he internalizes a lot of stuff. One of the conflicts he's having is he hates being a vampire ... so how [does he] go on a normal date or be a normal guy again? She's going to bring that side out of him and that's what the struggle is going to be. And I like that he's so overtly flawed. We're not going to play a blood lust story for him. What's the deal with Tripp (Colin Ferguson)?
Dries: He came about because we wanted to show Matt thriving in Mystic Falls without supernaturals. Every episode Matt is having his life in jeopardy or someone is threatening to kill him. Where is Enzo and what's his role now that he's a a series regular?
Dries: We'll answer that in the next episode, but he is up to something that's on point with what's going on in the Damon-Stefan story. Damon is his best friend. He's Damon's soul mate, so Damon dying obviously took a toll on Enzo, which we never actually saw. We saw Stefan has given up — [Enzo] won't give up on [Damon]. His view on Damon is in direct conflict from Stefan's view, so it's going to continue to be this love triangle with Damon, Enzo and Stefan, where Enzo and Stefan continue to be at odds. [As for Caroline], Enzo is super charming. We'll continue to have that dynamic between the two.

What will we learn about Stefan's new lady Ivy (Emily C. Chang)?
Dries: Ivy is a potential love interest and she opens the door into this world of Stefan's we've never seen before. We get to learn his process ... of starting over and living a different identify because we've only seen him as Stefan Salvatore, high school student-turned-Elena's boyfriend. This is Stefan Salvatore as a guy who works as a mechanic in Savannah. So, that will open us to a new world for a little while.

How much about Luke (Chris Brochu) and Liv (Penelope Mitchell) will we learn?
Dries: We're trying to pepper in the mythology as opposed to ram it down your throats. The last scene with Damon and Bonnie, that's more the mythology, and it's less about Silas and the originals. It's more about what the heck is going on? Slowly but surely, hopefully everything will weave together in an elegant way towards the middle of the season. Liv and Luke will play an important part of that. What we're doing this season is big juicy mythology stuff.

Is Jeremy headed down another dark path?
Dries: He doesn't really get dark. He's feeling, rightfully so, betrayed that Bonnie lied to him for all those episodes and then said, "I'm dying "over the phone. So, he's going to try to find some meaning in these first few episodes. He hasn't hit his rock bottom.

With Stefan and Damon gone, is the love triangle gone too?

Nous allons le voir tourner la page, vivre une vie différente car pour l’instant, nous avons simplement vu le Stefan Salvatore étudiant et petit ami d’Elena. Là, nous parlons d’un Stefan qui travaille en tant que mécanicien à Savannah, en Géorgie. Nous allons donc voir un nouveau Stefan pendant un petit moment.

Qu’apprendrons-nous de plus sur Luke et Liv ?
Nous allons creuser dans la mythologie. La dernière scène de l’épisode que vous avez vu avec Damon et Bonnie, c’est en lien avec la mythologie, et cela a moins à voir avec Silas et les Originaux. Je peux vous dire que les triangles amoureux sont toujours d’actualité. Ils ne vont pas évoluer d’une manière traditionnelle, mais je pense que les fans seront satisfaits… Pour ce qui est du trio Stefan-Elena-Damon, je ne l’appellerais pas un triangle amoureux puisque Stefan est devenu un ami pour Elena, même s’ils sont très liés. Pour le moment, nous cherchons plus à trouver un moyen de maintenir la relation Damon et Elena en vie même s’il n’est plus là.

Caroline et Stefan se mettront-ils un jour ensemble ?
Carline ne réalise encore même pas à quel point ses sentiments sont profonds. Elle se sent blessée et ignorée, elle continuera donc à lui laisser des messages. Mais Stefan gère la chose d’une toute autre manière. Il a coupé les ponts et il a tourné la page. Je pense qu’il ne peut même pas s’imaginer ressentir quelque chose pour quelqu’un. Donc dans sa tête, il n’a pas encore considéré le fait de sortir avec quelqu’un et encore moins d’avoir un réelle histoire d’amour avec quelqu’un. Cela prendra du temps.

Qui sera le nouveau Big Bad de cette saison ?
L’acteur s’appelle Chris Wood et son personnage est complètement fou, très charismatique, charmant, et on peut l’aimer comme le détester. Nous le verrons dans quelques épisodes, et il restera dans la série un petit moment.
